Daily COVID-19 Screening Required for UK Community – UKNow

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 7, 2020) —As the University of Kentucky prepares to make it easy to be safe this fall, all members of the community are asked to remember a simple idea: Protect. Respect. Do your part.
As part of those efforts, all students and employees who come on to campus will be required to complete a COVID-19 screening, every day, seven days a week. Completion of this screening is necessary to remain in compliance with university policy. Individuals will be required to begin completing the screening on the first day of classes, Aug. 17.
The daily screener is quick and easy. It takes less than 3-5 seconds if you don’t have symptoms. In some cases, it takes less than 60 seconds if students are reporting symptoms.
This screening is not only a means to keep the community safe, but another way for individuals to be mindful of their symptoms.
All members of the UK community, including students, faculty and staff, who come onto campus will complete this screening, using their linkblue login. More instructions will be communicated next week.
If individuals indicate they have no symptoms or known exposure, they will be free to continue with their daily schedules. Students who indicate they are experiencing symptoms or who have had exposure to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 will be contacted by a member of the UK Health Corps, provided with resources and support and asked to return to their residence halls or off-campus residences to monitor their symptoms.
Employees who indicate they are experiencing symptoms or who have had exposure to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 also will be contacted by a member of the UK Health Corps, provided with resources and support and asked to remain home to monitor their symptoms.

The University of Kentucky is increasingly the first choice for students, faculty and staff to pursue their passions and their professional goals. In the last two years, Forbes has named UK among the best employers for diversity, and INSIGHT into Diversity recognized us as a Diversity Champion four years running. UK is ranked among the top 30 campuses in the nation for LGBTQ* inclusion and safety. UK has been judged a “Great College to Work for” three years in a row, and UK is among only 22 universities in the country on Forbes’ list of “America’s Best Employers.”  We are ranked among the top 10 percent of public institutions for research expenditures — a tangible symbol of our breadth and depth as a university focused on discovery that changes lives and communities. And our patients know and appreciate the fact that UK HealthCare has been named the state’s top hospital for five straight years. Accolades and honors are great. But they are more important for what they represent: the idea that creating a community of belonging and commitment to excellence is how we honor our mission to be not simply the University of Kentucky, but the University for Kentucky.
