Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis was on hand Wednesday, Nov. 2, to a host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of the new Urgent Care and Primary Care Center in the city of El Monte.
The Urgent Care and Primary Care Center is within the El Monte Comprehensive Health Center, and it’s managed and operated by the County’s Department of Health Services.
Before it was renovated, only the second floor of the two-story building was used for patient care, and only for primary care services.
With the renovation, the first floor will open two wings – an expanded primary care (3,400 square feet), and a new urgent care center (5,400 square feet), officials said.
The new Urgent Care and Primary Care Center space provides five exam rooms, four observation rooms, a treatment room, and an education/counseling office.
Before, patients in the San Gabriel Valley had to travel over 10 miles to LAC+USC Medical Center in Boyle Heights for urgent care.
Now, there’s a hub closer to home.
