The New York Knicks have brought in the Sportfive agency to assist the National Basketball Association (NBA) franchise’s search for a new jersey patch sponsor.
The Knicks are looking for a replacement to their previous agreement with website publisher Squarespace, which expired after the 2021/22 NBA season.
The Hamburg-headquartered sports marketing agency will utilise its market intelligence and sales network to find a new jersey patch partner for the Madison Square Garden (MSG) Sports-owned team, as well as search for global brand partnerships through the league’s international marketing programme.
Sportfive already manages rights and delivers premium events across more than 30 different sports, partnering with the likes of the Bundesliga, the Football Association (FA), the Premier League, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), the New York Jets, and the PGA Tour.
“The next Knicks jersey patch partner will be woven into the fabric of our organisation’s identity,” said David Hopkinson, president and chief operating officer of MSG Sports.
“This patch will be worn by some of the world’s greatest athletes and deeply engrained into one of the most iconic brands in professional sports. We are excited to collaborate with Sportfive on identifying the right partner for the New York Knicks.”
Neil Glat, co-president of Americas at Sportfive, added: “The New York Knicks are one of the most historic franchises in the NBA, and as a team playing in the ‘Mecca of Basketball’, they are an integral part of the fabric of New York.
“We are thrilled to be working with the Knicks on the team’s next jersey patch partnership; this is a tremendous opportunity to find the right brand partner that will be an ideal fit for the Knicks and their fans.”
