In the preseason, TLU will start things off with a scrimmage against Our Lady of the Lake on Monday, Aug. 22 and an Alumni Game on Aug. 27. Both exhibition matches will take place at TLU’s Gustafson Field.
TLU’s first home game of the regular season will be held on Thursday, Sept. 1 against McMurry University. Texas Lutheran will travel to face Howard Payne on Sept. 3 before hosting Chapman and Mary Hardin-Baylor on Sept. 9 and 11, respectively.
TLU will then head on the road to face Concordia (TX) and Southwestern in non-conference games on Sept. 14 and 16.
TLU will also host Dallas (Sept. 23), Austin College (Sept. 25), Schreiner (Oct. 7), and Trinity (Oct. 9) in non-conference play.
“Coming in with new ideas from a previous playoff season, we scheduled some very good competition from the American Southwest Conference in addition to Chapman University from California to help prepare us for our conference schedule.”
The Bulldogs will open SCAC play Oct. 11 against Southwestern at Gustafson Field to start a three-game stretch of SCAC home matches. They will host their final regular season home game in a matchup against University of St. Thomas on Oct. 16 at Gustafson Field, before finishing up the regular season with a four game road trip at Dallas, Austin College, Schriener and rival Trinity. After making the SCAC Tournament for the ninth straight season last year, TLU is looking to break through and win their first league title in program history under first year head coach Kerwin Johnson.
TLU added 11 new players to its roster in 2022 including Division-II transfer Alyssa Simien (San Antonio/Warren/Texas Woman’s University) and senior transfer Elena Rivera (New Braunfels/Canyon/Texas A&M International) and nine freshmen (Elaina Barrientes, Allisyn Carter, Klarissa Martinez, Ana Parra, Madeline Rasgado, Jessica RobinsonJacqueline SaucedaAshlyn Suarez, and Gabriela Varela). The Bulldogs return 17 players as well, including All-SCAC honorees Liliana Avila (Blanco/Blanco), Samantha Martinez (Schertz/Clemens), Charleigh Phipps (Dripping Springs/Dripping Springs), and Kelly Wolfe (San Antonio/Churchill).
The SCAC Tournament will take place Nov. 4-6 on the campus of Trinity University in San Antonio. The Division-III Women’s Soccer Championship is set for Dec. 2-3 at Kerr Stadium in Salem, Virginia.
