ABC’s Good Morning America and NBC’s Today shared the spoils at the top of the morning show ratings race as GMA averaged the most total viewers, while Today ranked No. 1 among adults 25-54.
According to live-plus-same-day data from Nielsen, GMA averaged 3.05 million total viewers and 697,000 viewers in the adults 25-54 demo for the week of October 17. That’s +2% in total viewers compared to the previous week but flat in A25-54.
When comparing GMA’s performance to the same week in 2021, however, the morning show saw declines in both total viewers and the A25-54 demo at -6% and -13%, respectively.
For the week of Oct. 17, NBC’s Today averaged 2.84 million total viewers and 704,000 viewers in adults 25-54. The 704,000 represents the show’s largest A25-54 audience in six weeks.
Compared to the previous week, Today gained +2% in both total viewers and A25-54. When looking at the numbers from the same week in 2021, however, Today is down -11% in total viewers and -24% in adults 25-54.
CBS Mornings remained the No. 3 morning show, but trended in a positive direction with 2.43 million total viewers and 535,000 adults 25-54 viewers during the week of Oct. 17.
CBS’ national morning show gained +4% in total viewers and +1% in A25-54 compared to the previous week. Looking at the same week in 2021, CBS Mornings is up +4% in total viewers and grew by +1% in the adults 25-54 demo.
