Whether it’s a free meal at Bob Evans or a 10% discount at Target, plenty of shops and restaurants in the Midwest are offering military members freebies and deals this Veterans Day.
Every year on Nov. 11, the U.S. honors military personnel and veterans who have served the country. Veterans Day began in 1926 when World War I concluded.
Keep in mind that most businesses require proof of military service, according to reporting by military.com. A VA benefits card or retiree or military identification card should do the trick.
Among the establishments giving deals to veterans are Sports Clips and Great Clips. Both will give all military members a free haircut on Friday.
Sport Clips Haircuts offers free haircuts on Veterans Day, Friday, Nov. 11 to all active U.S. service members and veterans as part of its national “Help A Hero” program which raises funds for veteran scholarships in partnership with the VFW.
Midland Sport Clips stores also offer a 20% discount to all active-duty military and veterans every day of the year.  
“At Sport Clips, it’s all about the team and it’s all about the community,” said owner Rick Ohle. “Our veterans are an important part of our community and we are eternally grateful to them for their service and sacrifice.”
At Applebee’s veterans and active-duty military can select a free meal from a limited menu.
At Big Boy, veterans can come in with a valid ID and pick up a voucher for a free future meal.
At Buffalo Wild Wings, veterans and active-duty military who dine in or call for takeout at their local B-Dubs can receive a free order of boneless wings and a side of fries.
At Chili’s, all veterans and active-duty military personnel can choose a complimentary meal from a select menu.
At Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants nationwide, veterans and active-duty military can enjoy a free donut, no purchase necessary.
At Insomnia Cookies, veterans and active military can enjoy a free six-pack in-store with any purchase.
At Logan’s Roadhouse, all active-duty military and veterans are invited to enjoy a free meal from the American roadhouse menu. The offer is available from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at all Logan’s Roadhouse restaurants nationwide.
Additionally, Walgreens is offering a four-day in-store discount to all veterans and active duty military personnel, as well as their family members. Military, veterans and their families receive 20% off eligible, regular-price purchases in-store when using myWalgreens membership.
